Dubai Police announced on Friday the addition of Lucid’s Air Grand Touring electric vehicle to its tourist security patrol fleet.

Earlier this year, the force acquired a Tesla Cybertruck, a Zeekr 001 EV and a Lotus Eletre SUV to electrify its fleet. The first electric vehicle to join the Dubai Police fleet was the Hongqi E-HS9 in October 2022.

The fleet has also recently added plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs), such as the Tiggo 8 from Chinese automaker Chery, which offers an electric range of up to 75 km on a single charge.

Faisal Sultan, Lucid’s Vice President and Managing Director for the Middle East, handed over the vehicle to Dubai Police Commander-in-Chief Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri.

The initiative aligns with Dubai’s Quality of Life Strategy 2033, which aims to adopt advanced technologies and systems supporting sustainable development, reduce carbon emissions, and rely on clean energy for daily operations.

The Air Grand Touring will be deployed by the Tourist Police Department for patrols in tourist areas, events, and community initiatives.

Faisal Sultan commented: “We are proud to support Dubai Police’s efforts to expand its fleet of electric vehicles. With the recent opening of our first retail showroom in the emirate, located in City Walk, we look forward to expanding our business in Dubai.”

Earlier this week, Envoy, a subsidiary of EV charging company Blink Charging, announced it is adding Lucid Air vehicles to its car-sharing programs, starting with installations at three luxury properties in California.

Prices for the Lucid Air Grand Touring start at $699 per month for 12 month terms, plus additional revenue share for qualifying properties.

Lucid Motors sold 587 vehicles in the United States in September, according to sales estimations from Motor Intelligence. For August, the firm estimated 660 units.

The company is expected to announce its global delivery figures for the third quarter over the next few days as it aims to produce 9,000 units this year.
