Li Auto, a Beijing-based new energy vehicle (NEV) manufacturer, said it will sue the medical firm EMST after the firm threatened to release the physiological data of the founder Li Xiang.
The company, which is also headquartered in Beijing, claimed earlier this week that the chief executive is “at risk of developing liver cancer” if Li doesn’t “seek treatment”.
“We will periodically release physiological data on Li Xiang, based on publicly available online data. According to our analysis, if he does not seek timely treatment, he is at risk of developing liver cancer,” EMS said in a statement released on Monday.
Additionally, the company stated that will terminate “all commercial activities” with the NEV maker.
“We will terminate all commercial activities with Li Auto, including partnerships with Huawei in the field of smart terminals and any other partners in the AI health sector related to Li Auto,” EMST added.
Earlier in July, Li Auto denied on the Chinese social media platform Weibo that business cooperation in the AI medical field, as initially reported by Yicai.
EMST, which was founded in late 2022, claims its AI software can identify “more than 1,700 diseases and is used by people in 33 countries”.
