“Rivian brand awareness is only 40 percent in the US – significant growth opportunity”. That was the only sentence shown on the 90th slide of Rivian‘s Investor Day presentation in late June.
According to a Rivian enthusiast, the company has now started running advertisement ads on the TV as part of its strategy to reach a broader audience in the United States. The ad was spotted running during the Formula 1 British Grand Prix this Sunday.
On X, the user wrote, “Just spotted a Rivian TV ad in the runup to the F1 British Grand Prix. Pretty sure this is Rivian’s first TV ad,” he wrote. Here’s the full video shared by the X user “AdamUCF”:
In the same presentation, the company stated that has an average of 2.9 million website visitors per month while its showrooms receive more than 85,000 monthly visitors.
Advertisement — especially in traditional TV — has been one of the hot topics in the electric vehicle industry with some questioning the relevance of it as Tesla’s CEO Elon Musk has defended multiple times that the company prefers to spend the money improving the products.
One year ago, Tesla started running Google ads shortly after Elon Musk stated that the company would “try a little advertising” and see how it performs.
According to the electric vehicle manufacturer, that cites data from Consumer Reports, 86 percent of its owners would buy a Rivian vehicle again.
Rivian announced last Friday its Chief Accounting Officer Jeffrey Baker has resigned to pursue another career opportunity.
The resignation will take effect later this month, on July 27, as Baker continues in his current role to ensure a smooth transition, according to the electric vehicle manufacturer.
Earlier in the week, the German media outlet Handelsblatt reported that Rivian and Volkswagen were in discussions to extend their recently announced software partnership into hardware collaboration and joint production.
However, when contacted by Reuters, the US-based electric vehicle (EV) maker Rivian stated that it has no plans to produce vehicles with Volkswagen Group.
Last week, Volkswagen Group said it was set to invest up to $5 billion in the US-based electric vehicle maker Rivian to leverage its technology and form a joint venture.
