The U.S. Representative for Arizona’s 3rd Congressional District, Ruben Gallego, toured on Wednesday the manufacturing plant of the electric vehicle maker Lucid Motors.
Located in Casa Grande, Lucid’s factory is known as the Advanced Manufacturing Plant (AMP-1) and it began operations in 2021 producing the brand’s first model, the Lucid Air.
After the visit, Gallego enhanced Arizona’s investments in the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) that offers tax credits for the purchase of new and used new energy vehicles.
Under the IRA incentive, new electric vehicles can qualify for up to $7,500 in tax credits, while previously owned clean vehicles are eligible for up to $4,000.
On X, Gallego posted , “Thanks to our investments in the Inflation Reduction Act, Arizona is becoming a hub for good-paying EV manufacturing jobs. This week, I got to tour Lucid Motors’ facility in Casa Grande to see these investments firsthand.”

According to Arizona’s Commerce Authority, the AMP-1 facility is expected to create 6,000 jobs by 2029 and generate an economic impact of over $100 million by 2030 .

In an email sent on Monday, Lucid Motors announced that is introducing a new leasing incentive of $7,500 Air Credit for customers in the United States. This offer is in addition to the existing $4,000 bonus available for inventory vehicles.
Last month, the company offered an Air Credit that was 50 percent lower ($3,750) for new customers in the country, while the inventory bonus was $1,000 higher, at $5,000. The EV maker is expected to publish the second-quarter production and delivery numbers over the next few days.
During the first quarter of the year, Lucid delivered 1,967 vehicles, a nearly 40 percent growth compared to the first three months of 2023. In the conference call that followed the recent earnings release, CEO Peter Rawlinson disclosed that over 500 of them were delivered to Saudi Arabia.
Last Friday, Lucid said it had reached an agreement over the opened trademark dispute for its upcoming SUV Gravity.
In a recent interview on the podcast “The Luxury Item with Scott Kerr,” Rawlinson expressed bold confidence in the new model, criticizing the current electric SUVs on the market by stating, “None of the electric SUVs available are very good.”
