Electric carmaker Lucid Motors is expanding its presence in the Middle East, a region playing an increasingly significant role in the company’s revenue.
In the third quarter, the EV maker’s revenue from the Middle East rose sequentially from $40.6 million to $49.7 million. Over the last few months, several partnerships have been announced for Lucid’s unit in the market.
The company said on Sunday it delivered the first fleet car to Cherry, a Saudi-based car rental firm that was established 40 years ago and operates a fleet of approximately 25,000 vehicles.

“Through this partnership, we aim to add advanced vehicles to our fleet that meet our customers’ aspirations for a luxurious and sustainable driving experience,” Cherry said in a statement on Monday.
Lucid’s expansion plans in the region include a flagship service center in Dubai and upcoming sales and service facilities in Abu Dhabi.
Last week, the EV maker partnered with the Saudi Authority for Accredited Valuers (TAQEEM) to improve repair quality, improve technical expertise, and ensure fair compensation for vehicle owners.
The collaboration provides access to technical information on repair methods and specifications for Lucid vehicles, as well as support for “the integration and management of pricing for damaged electric vehicle parts.”
Earlier this month, Lucid established its Middle East headquarters in Riyadh, while the company’s global headquarters are in Newark, California and its European base is in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
The EV maker has recently delivered its first vehicles in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), its sixth market globally. There, the Lucid Air sedan starts at AED 309,750 ($84,300) including an AED 3,670 ($1,000) Charging Allowance and two years of complimentary Lucid Care scheduled maintenance, according to the EV maker’s website.
Despite having only one showroom in the UAE, Lucid’s vice-president and managing director of the Middle East region Faisal Sultan said that the company “had many reservations.”
