Nio’s sub-brand Onvo was unveiled in May, started deliveries in late September and it aims to surpass the milestone of 10,000 units in a single month by December.
With production taking place at one of parent company Nio’s factories in Hefei, China, the first models of the new EV brand will be SUVs aimed at families.
In a recent Q&A session shared via its app, Onvo stated that collaboration with key partners had resolved many issues allowing it to further improve its production capacity.
“As of now, the estimated delivery time we’ve provided is most likely the final delivery time, but early delivery cannot be completely ruled out,” the company clarified in its latest update.
In his latest research note, and despite Onvo has not unveiled any details on the number of orders received, Deutsche Bank analyst Wang Bin affirmed that Onvo “received more than 30,000 non-cancelable orders.”
Onvo delivered 832 units in three production days it had in September. For the upcoming months, it expects to produce 5,000 in October, 10,000 by December and 20,000 in March next year.
“There are two scenarios: First, we continue to receive positive news from the factory, and various issues are gradually being resolved,” Onvo noted.
“With the joint efforts of us and our key partners, many problems have been solved, and there is indeed a possibility of further improvement in production capacity,” the company added.
Onvo stated that a second situation where the delivery date may change could arise if customers are unable to pick up the vehicle for “three to four weeks.”
“Second, this is a rare situation and has only occurred a few times before. For example, a car is fully configured and is en route to the delivery location, or even has already arrived in the city, but the customer suddenly faces an unexpected situation, such as being dispatched on a business trip, meaning they won’t be able to collect the vehicle for another three to four weeks,” the company said.
“In such cases, we will prioritize delivering the car to the next customer in line with an identical configuration,” Onvo added.
Last week, the company addressed customer concerns after facing delivery confusion and production capacity issues with its first model.
The controversy, which included allegations of “queue-jumping,” arose during the early production phase when vehicles were not strictly matched with customer orders based on their lock-in sequences.
The standard range variant, which is equipped with a 60 kWh battery, is priced at 206,900 yuan, while the long-range (85 kWh) variants starts at 235,900 yuan with deliveries starting in December.
