Nio’s sub-brand, Onvo, will begin delivering its debut model L60 next Saturday on September 28, as previously announced.

However, in a new Q&A session on the Onvo app, Xia Qinghua, Head of User and Service Operations, revealed on Tuesday that deliveries of the long-range version, equipped with an 85kWh battery, will start in December.

For the first eight weeks, deliveries will be limited to the L60 model with the smaller 60kWh battery.

Although the official breakdown for Onvo is not know yet, the majority of the customers of the parent brand Nio opts for the smallest battery available as the company provides a complete network of over 2,500 battery swap stations across China.

There, drivers can replace the battery of their car for a fully charged one (at about 90 percent) in a few minutes. As the station checks the battery health of each pack, the drivers’s car is always provided with an healthy battery.

“Deliveries for the 85 kWh version will begin in December, and production capacity for this version is adequate for the year,” Xia Qinghua wrote on the Onvo app.

Answering whether advanced driving features will become paid after five years, he clarified that some intelligent driving features will remain free while advanced navigation and urban NOA (Navigate on Autopilot) will cost 320 yuan per month after the first five years.

Regarding the data used by the vehicle, the company says that FOTA/SOTA (firmware and software over the air) updates and real-time traffic navigation will be always free adding that “entertainment data is capped at 8GB per month in the first year, after which additional data can be purchased.”

In terms of warranty, Onvo clairified that provides customers with an 8-year/ 160,000 km warranty.

Earlier today, JP Morgan analyst Nick Lai published a new research note on the Nio stock saying that talking with “several salespeople” and potential buyers “enhanced” the firm’s confidence in the success of the Onvo L60.

As of Monday, the waiting time for deliveries was 8 to 12 weeks, the official app showed.

Nio Senior VP and Onvo’s President, Alan Ai, wrote on the app that Nio and Onvo held a supplier conference last Friday with over 1,000 supply chain partners where they were asked to “increase shifts and improve production planning.”

Nio management said after the event that expects to deliver 5,000 units in October with a continuous production ramp-up. Nio Group founder and CEO said the goal for March 2025 is to deliver 20,000 L60 units.

On Monday, an official spokesperson wrote, “Since the release on September 19, the number of L60 orders has far exceeded expectations” adding that efforts are being made to “meet the demand for customers.”

Earlier this week, Onvo announced two new incentives/benefits with the first one being a daily draw to win “up to 888 yuan ($126) in charging subsidies”.

“A new benefit activity, “Daily Joy,” is now online. Users who have placed orders can participate in a daily draw for the “Expanding Gold Card,” with a chance to win up to 888 yuan in charging subsidies. These subsidies can be used after receiving the vehicle and applied to bills within the Nio Power system, including electricity and service fees,” the brand stated.

Onvo has introduced a new incentive program for customers facing delivery delays. According to the brand, if it fails to deliver a vehicle within 12 weeks from the date of order confirmation due to internal factors, customers will receive a 1,000-yuan no-threshold discount voucher for use in the Onvo car mall upon delivery.
