Canoo Announces Major Workforce Expansion Ahead of Production Start

Electric vehicle maker Canoo, which recently moved its headquarters to Texas, said Friday it is opening “approximately” 150 new positions — nearly doubling its team ahead of production start.

The company has been working on several pilot programs with major U.S. fleet operators over the last years and it aims to start mass production in some months. Following the previous earnings conference call, Wall Street analysts said they expect the EV startup to start production between late this year and early 2025.

Amid the move to Texas, Canoo has offered relocation to 137 of the 194 employees at its California facility, either to Texas or Oklahoma.

“We are currently hiring for numerous positions across our headquarters in Texas and primarily at our world-class manufacturing facility in Oklahoma City where we are ramping up to approximately 150 open positions in the near future, with a significant number already listed online. If you’re a passionate innovator eager to make an impact, we want you on our team!”, the company wrote on LinkedIn.

Among the positions posted, Canoo is looking for a Quality Engineering Inspector Group Lead, Senior Manager Supplier Quality, and Industrial Controls Engineer to lead the development, commissioning & upkeep of manufacturing equipment & processes including their mechanisms, sensors, actuators, and controls — according to its website .

Last month, the co-founder and Chief Technology Officer Sohel Merchant left the company seven years after helping founding it.

The company has recently announced that is moving its headquarters from Torrance to Texas affecting 137 out of the nearly 200 employees.
