Chinese smartphone giant Xiaomi is making waves this year. The company unveiled its first electric car, the sedan SU7, in late March and began deliveries in April. Now, it’s on pace to exceed 100,000 units in just its first seven months of production in China —a fiercely competitive market.
At the launch event held in late March, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun claimed the standard version of the SU7 beat the Model 3 “on more than 90% of its specifications”.
Without disclosing the exact number, the company said on August 1st it delivered “over 10,000 units” in July for the second consecutive month. Later in the day, CEO Lei Jun revealed Xiaomi is on track to surpass the five-digit figures again this month.

The company anticipated meeting its annual delivery target of 100,000 units by November, ahead of the initial goal of reaching it by year-end.
On X, Lei wrote earlier this month, “Kicking off August with some exciting news! Last month, we delivered over 10,000 units of Xiaomi SU7. We’re gearing up to hit that mark again this month and are on track to reach our annual delivery target of 100,000 units by November”.
The company started having doubling shifts at its car factory in early June as the annual production target was increased from 100 thousand to 120 thousand units.
According to the registration numbers shared by Li Auto earlier on Tuesday, Xiaomi registered 3,500 units of its inaugural model, the SU7, a decline of 7.9% from the previous week.
Despite the recent dip, Xiaomi’s SU7 registrations have demonstrated resilience over the past three weeks. After dropping to 1,900 units four weeks ago, the company rebounded, recording a total of 11,200 units over the last three weeks, averaging 3,966 units per week.
Meanwhile, the 10-year-old EV makers Nio and XPeng saw significant declines in registrations last week. Nio registered 3,300 units, a sharp 43.1% drop, while XPeng recorded 1,700 units, down 22.7% week over week.
The result marks the first time that the smartphone giant registered more EVs than Nio, which currently has eight models in its portfolio.
