Tesla’s senior director of HR has reportedly left Tesla in the latest round of layoffs, Bloomberg reported on Wednesday. Arebalo joined Tesla in 2018 as HR Business Partner and, after several different HR roles, was promoted to Senior Director HR for North America in February 2023.
Tesla chief executive Elon Musk emailed Executives on Monday evening warning that the company needs “need to be absolutely hard core about headcount and cost reduction” as layoff continues.
In her recent role, Arebalo was reporting directly to Elon Musk and she was responsible for overseeing all the human resources functions in North America including business partners, compensation, benefits, and mobility.
Additionally, she was also overseeing people analytics, training & development, people operations & programs, employee engagement, and internal content. Prior to Tesla, Arebalo worked at Disney and Walmart.

In the memo sent earlier this week, Musk wrote “starting at 10 AM EST Tuesday, I will ask for the resignation of any executive who retains more than three people who don’t obviously pass the excellent, necessary, and trustworthy test”.

Rebecca Tinucci, Sr Director of charging at Tesla, and Daniel Ho, Director of Vehicle Programs and New Product Introduction (NPI), are both leaving Tesla this week, according to the publication. Daniel joined Tesla in November 2013 as Model S Program Manager.
Tinucci joined 6 years ago and all the 500 people reporting to her will also be laid off, as well as the entire public policy team previously under Rohan Patel.
The world’s largest EV maker issued an email earlier this month to all employees announcing a >10% reduction in its global staff representing more than 14,000 employees.
“About every 5 years, we need to reorganize and streamline the company for the next phase of growth.” These were the initial remarks made by Tesla‘s CEO following the announcement of the departure of two vice presidents and a workforce reduction of over 10 percent.
