Tesla’s Gigafactory in Grünheide, outside the German capital of Berlin, now hosts the world’s largest electric vehicle (EV) charging park, featuring 546 charging stations accessible to the public, including 19 V4 Superchargers.

Of those, 527 charging stalls are located in the southern parking lot and 19 in the northern lot, with 226 of the stalls installed under solar roof — each delivers up to 11 kilowatts of power.

According to Tesla, the solar-covered stations, powered by several hundred roof-mounted panels, have a peak power capacity of 1 megawatt.

The site also includes 19 fourth-generation Superchargers, capable of delivering up to 250 kW. These are open to non-Tesla EVs at a rate of 53 euro cents per kilowatt-hour, as reported by the local media outlet Moz.

In the first quarter of the year, Tesla opened 2,200 supercharger stalls globally, a 17% year over year network growth. Its chargers delivered 1.4 Two of energy, up 26% from the first three months of 2024.

Tesla aims to start V4 superchargers with V4 cabinet in “first pilot sites” in the third quarter of the year. “Despite increased capability of up to 500kW/stall, we should be able to deploy it for less than $40k/stall,” Tesla’s Director, Charging North America, Europe Middle East & Africa, Asia Pacific Max de Zegher wrote on X in February.

Tesla said last year—amid violent local protests over the plant’s location and its alleged environmental impact—that its Giga Berlin facility recycles “up to 100% of the factory process wastewater” and uses just 1.8 m³ of water per Model Y, well below the industry average of 3.7 m³.

Last month, plant manager André Thierig ruled out any production halts, job cuts, or short-time work at the facility where about 11,000 people are employed.

“There are no plans for production stoppages, staff reductions, or short-time work in Grünheide,” Thierig said in March. “Production is currently ramping up again following a model change.”

As of the time of writing, Tesla shares are trading 3.1% lower at $244.
