Electric vehicle maker Nio will launch new EV models every quarter from the second quarter through the year-end, the company’s founder and CEO William Li said on Saturday.
The Nio brand will release facelifts on four of its premium models, while the cheaper sub-brand Onvo will launch two new SUVs. The recently unveiled third brand, Firefly, will start deliveries of its debut model in late April.
In 2025, the Shanghai-based group aims to double sales to about 440,000 units. After delivering 13,683 EVs in January, Nio needs to deliver 426,300 vehicles across its three brands over the next eleven months, an average of about 38,750 units.
“From April through the end of the year, all three of our brands—Nio, Onvo, and Firefly—will be intensively releasing new products,” Li said before noting that the new facelifts won’t be cheaper than the current versions.
Nio will release new facelifts for the SUV ES6 and the Coupe SUV EC6 but also the ET5 sedan and its station wagon variant ET5 Touring. Official launches are expected between May and June, shortly after the Shanghai Auto Show.
Li commented on the changes in the new versions, revealing that they will feature minor exterior revisions and refreshed interiors, including a horizontal center screen similar to the one in Nio’s flagship ET9 sedan.
The new models will also incorporate Nio’s in-house Shenji autonomous driving chip and run on the company’s SkyOS vehicle-wide operating system. Li said software updates, including an end-to-end city driving system powered by a world model, will begin rolling out in March.
The Shenji NX9031 chip is manufactured using a 5 nm process and contains over 50 billion transistors, according to the carmaker.
The ET7 sedan, the first model from the company’s second-generation platform, was initially unveiled in January 2021, with deliveries starting in March 2022.
The second generation of this flagship sedan was introduced 13 months later, in April 2023 — at the Shanghai Auto Show — with the first units being delivered in late April 2024.
In a note sent to clients last year, Deutsche Bank analyst Wang Bin claimed Nio would launch the ET9 sedan, the third generation of the SUVs ES8 and ES7, and a brand new sedan named ET6.
