Tesla registered 13,400 vehicles in China between January 20 and February 2, data shared by the carmaker Li Auto showed on Friday. Over the first three weeks of the year, the company registered 23,300 units in the country.

Between January 20 and February 2, Tesla registered 10,000 Model Y vehicles, while its sedan Model 3 registered 3,400 units. The brand has recently discontinued the initial version of the Model Y as it prepares to start deliveries of the new one in March.

SU7, Xiaomi’s debut model and Model 3’s main competitor in China, has reached 8,500 units over the same period as it continues to outsell Tesla’s sedan.

Xiaomi’s model was unveiled early last year and deliveries started shortly after in late March. In early December, the model outsold the Model 3 for the first time ever. Between January 20 and February 2, the SU7 registered more than twice as many units as the Model 3.

The China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) reported earlier this Friday that Tesla wholesales in January registered a 11.5% decline year over year, from 71,447 units to 63,238 vehicles.

In the last week of January, Tesla offered a 30-day free trial of its Enhanced Autopilot feature to owners of vehicles delivered until January 27 in China.

Overall, the CPCA estimated that new energy vehicle (NEV) manufacturers selling more than 10,000 units per month collectively recorded 856,000 sales in January.

Tesla registered 21,900 sales between December 2 and 8, its third-highest weekly figure in the past three years. Of these, 16,760 were Model Y vehicles.

The company had rolled out new incentives in China, in December, that included the extension of the five-year, 0% interest loan offer in both Model 3 and Model Y until the end of 2024.

In the U.S., registrations dropped 10% year over year in January, according to Motor Intelligence estimates released earlier this week. The company registered 48,500 vehicles, down from the 53,830 recorded a year ago.
