Tesla shared a video on Sunday showing behind-the-scenes footage of the very first refreshed Model Y produced at its Giga Berlin factory in Germany.
As reported by EV on Saturday, Tesla began production of the refreshed Model Y at its European plant earlier this week, starting a production ramp-up across four Gigafactories.
The video shows several workers commenting on the highly confidential process of producing the refreshed Model Y alongside the previous version. One worker noted that this is the first time a new vehicle is being introduced at Tesla’s Giga Berlin factory.
Here’s the video shared by Tesla on X.
Earlier this week, Tesla launched the refreshed Model Y in the United States, Europe, and Canada, following its introduction in China two weeks prior. Deliveries in all regions are scheduled to begin in March.
The company’s senior director of Giga Berlin, Andre Thierig, shared the video on his LinkedIn, saying the refreshed Model Y “is nothing less but our future.”
“Let‘s focus on what really matters! The new Model Y has finally arrived at Giga Berlin and is nothing less but our future!,” Thierig wrote on LinkedIn this Sunday. “I am super proud and excited that the global and European bestseller got even better and will soon be available for our customers!”
“Thanks to all involved teams to get the product and factory ready to launch the new Model Y at Giga Berlin! Now let‘s rock‘n roll! Party on!,” he added.
The first Model Y was painted in Tesla’s new ‘Solid Black’ color, signed by all the Giga Berlin employees, and is currently on display at the factory.
The first units to be delivered will be the “Launch Series,” priced at $59,990 in the U.S., £60,990 ($76,140) in the UK, and at €60,990 ($60,050) in Germany.
This special edition is an all-wheel-drive model that includes approximately $17,000 worth of added features.
It comes standard with Tesla’s supervised Full Self-Driving software, valued at $8,000, the Acceleration Boost feature ($2,000), a tow hitch ($1,000), and customization options, including any paint color, wheels, or interior trim, at no additional cost — among other features.
