The Polestar 3 SUV, the second battery-electric model from the Geely-backed brand, was awarded Scottish Car of the Year in the Executive Premium category, the company said on Friday.
The Renault Scenic E-Tech was named Car of the Year following the Hyundai Ioniq 6 in 2023 and the Honda Civic in 2o22.
The awards, organized by the Association of Scottish Motoring Writers (ASMW), also recognized Hyundai’s Ioniq 5 N as Performance Car of the Year, while Kia’s EV9 was awarded Best Large EV of the Year.
The Polestar 3 starts at £69,900 ($88,100) in the UK for the Long Range Single Motor version and £75,900 ($95,670) for the Long Range Dual Motor model.
The company has recently announced the switch from a direct sales model at its showrooms — known as Spaces — to a dealer network model with the UK being among the first European markets to adopt the change.
In the third quarter of the year, Polestar registered 3,619 vehicles, 400 units more than a year ago, according to the latest figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT).
The well-known tech YouTuber Marques Brownlee (MKBHD) published earlier this week a review of the model, praising (part of) its design and audio system while criticizing usability and the battery range.
The model starts at $67,500 in the United States for the single-motor version with the dual-motor starting at $73,400. Brownlee reviewed the performance version, featuring a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system and air suspension. “I think it looks phenomenal,” he remarked. “If I was designing a car, this is what I would have done.”
