Lucid Motors is set to introduce the Sapphire, the top-performance variant of its Lucid Air sedan, across its European markets in the first quarter of 2025, the company’s Managing Director of EU Alexander Lutz said.
In Europe, the California-based electric vehicle (EV) maker currently operates in Switzerland, Germany, Norway, and the Netherlands, where the European headquarters are established.
“The Sapphire launches in Europe in Q1 2025. It will be a highlight and garner significant attention in its segment. It’s a fascinating car, excelling in all areas,” Lutz said in an interview with German media.
In the United States, the Sapphire is priced at $249,000. The model features an estimated range of 427 miles, a top speed of 205 miles per hour, and acceleration from 0 to 60 mph in 1.89 seconds.
Commenting on Lucid’s third model, a midsize model planned to start production in late 2026, Lutz said it will “be crucial for Europe.”
“After our U.S. plant, the Saudi factory will play a key role in our midsize model. This vehicle is crucial for Europe. Expanding our sales and service network supports this strategy,” the executive said.
Lutz revealed the model will be available in Europe “from 2027,” he said. “Until then, we focus on the Air and, next year, the Gravity.”
In the same interview, Lutz said sales in Europe of the Gravity SUV will start in mid-2025 with the first deliveries taking place in early 2026. “European sales for the Gravity will start in the summer of 2025” adding that the first customer deliveries will begin in early 2026.
Last month, the EV maker opened a showroom in Hamburg, its fourth in Germany and eighth in Europe, following the Frankfurt showroom’s launch in September.
The company will start production of its second model, the Lucid Gravity, before the end of the year after pre-production started earlier this summer.
Although pricing details for the European markets were not yet unveiled, the executive said the company’s goal “is to price the Gravity as close to the Air as possible” noting that the model “starts at €85,000.”
Last week, EV reported that the deliveries in the U.S. —Lucid’s main market— are planned to start next year.
Year to date, Lucid has sold 700 in Europe, according to Auto Motor und Sport‘s report. In October, the EV maker signed a purchase agreement with the German rental firm SIXT to offer its model in the country.
