China’s insurance registration data for the week of November 4 to 10, released on Tuesday, showed BYD registering 85,900 new energy vehicles (NEVs), marking an 11% decrease from the previous week.
The Shenzhen-based automaker achieved a new record in October by delivering over 500,000 NEVs, crossing the half-million threshold for the first time in a single month. BYD is on pace to close the year with more than 4 million units sold, solidifying its leadership in the global NEV market.

Tesla’s registrations continued to increase last week and jumped another 9.6% to 17,300 vehicles, including 6,500 Model 3 units and 12,800 Model Ys. The company’s October sales in China, including exports, totaled 68,280 units, a 22.7% decline from September’s 88,321 and down 5.3% year-over-year.
Model 3 registrations rose by approximately 48% from the previous week, maintaining a lead over its rival, the Xiaomi SU7, which recorded 5,500 units — up 77% over the same period.
Onvo, the sub-brand of the electric vehicle maker Nio, registered 820 units from November 4 to 10, marking a 37% decrease from 1,300 units in the prior week, according to weekly insurance data released on Tuesday.
Li Auto maintained the lead among Chinese NEV startups with 300 additional units registered when compared to the previous week where it had registered 11,400 vehicles.

The company’s rival, Aito, saw a 23% decline in weekly registrations from 8,400 to 6,500 premium SUVs while Deepal recorded 5,800 (-5% week over week) and Zeekr 5,700, a slight decrease of 100 units.
XPeng registered 3,600 units, down 33% or 1,800 units from the previous week as it started deliveries of its new flagship sedan, P7+. The brand delivered 21,352 vehicles in September and 23,917 in October, a 20% increase from the previous year.
