Electric vehicle maker Nio saw its second-lowest monthly registration numbers of 2024 in the Netherlands, recording just 11 units in October, data from the Dutch automotive industry association showed on Friday.
The figure compares with September’s total of 21 Nio vehicles and is slightly above the January low of 10 units.
The company registered seven units of its flagship sedan ET7, three of the ET5 and one EL6, it’s cheapest SUV model.

Nio’s October performance lagged behind fellow premium Chinese EV brand Zeekr, with 98 units. BYD, which announced earlier this Friday that delivered over half a million new energy vehicles (NEV) in October, registered 270 vehicles in the country.
MG, which belongs to China’s SAIC Group, recorded 159 units.
The U.S. luxury EV manufacturer Lucid Motors recorded two vehicle registrations, while the Geely-backed EV brand Polestar saw 183 new units in October.
In total, battery electric vehicle (BEV) registrations in the Netherlands reached 10,984 for the month, marking a 32.2% increase year over year, when 8,309 new electric cars were registered. Hybrid models accounted for 14,426 units registered last month.
The top-selling model in October was Volvo’s EX30, with 701 units. Tesla’s Model Y and Model 3 followed closely, with 635 and 601 registrations, respectively, giving the American EV giant a 5.5% market share for the Model 3 alone.
In mid-September, Nio announced a partnership with the Dutch online platform Blueplates, allowing taxi drivers and chauffeurs to rent the company’s flagship sedan ET7 in the country’s capital Amsterdam.
Earlier today, the company announced it delivered 20,976 electric vehicles in October, including 4,319 units of its sub-brand Onvo. Nio brand delivered 16,657 vehicles, up from 16,074 units recorded in October 2023, but 3,692 fewer EVs than September’s figures.
Nio’s Co-Founder and President Lihong Qin denied on Friday that the upcoming sub-brand Firefly would launch an extended-range electric (EREV) model, refuting a report from Yicai.
In the third quarter, the company delivered 61,855 units — up 11.6 percent year over year — in line with the guidance previously communicated of between 61,000 and 63,000 units.
