Electric vehicle maker Nio set a new registration record in Norway this October, three years after entering the market.
According to EU-EVs, the company has registered 149 units in Norway in the first 25 days of October, surpassing the previous record of 140 units sold in one month back in December 2022.
Between July and September, the Shanghai-based EV maker had registered a total of 207 units.
In October, Nio has registered so far 111 EL6 SUVs in Norway, along with one EL7 and four first-generation ES8 (EL8) units. The ET5 registered zero sales, while the ET5 Touring version sold five units.
Given the sharp increase in the EL6 registrations it is still unclear if it can be related to a major fleet sale.
In August 2023, Oslo Taxi selected Nio as its preferred supplier for electric vehicles.
Beginning next week, on November 1, Oslo won’t allow internal combustion engine taxi vehicles. According to the Road Traffic Information Council, 88% of all new taxis purchased in Norway in 2023 were electric.
Nio’s flagship sedan, the ET7, saw ten registrations, and the second-generation EL8 recorded 18 units sold.
Nio’s official website currently lists a discount on ET5 sedan inventory units, offering NOK 35,000 off (excluding VAT), or roughly $3,190.
The offer is available exclusively to private customers and does not apply to the ET5 Touring model, according to the website.

In China, Nio delivered 20,349 electric vehicles in September, up 35 percent year over year and marking the fifth consecutive month delivering more than 20,000 units.
Additionally, September marked the first month that included deliveries of Nio’s first sub-brand Onvo. The more affordable brand delivered 832 units of its debut model, the L60.
